Waterfall in sri Lanka

Water is essential but common. It has so many formations. Among those waterfalls are the most fascinating natural resources we possess. Dunhinda is one of the best in my little sri lanka which is located in badulla District. the name implies the smoke like spray it creates as its water falls into the rock pool below. the graceful nature of falling the huge flow of water is really enchanting and amusing.

cascading through the lush green forests and splashing on the gigantic rocks and innocently moving ahead wetting and fertilizing an enormous area of badulla village. this massive volume of glistening water has some magic in it that calms the tensed mind.

world Heritage Site in Sri Lanka

our little island sri lanka is blessed with many forests. among those Sinharaja is considered as the largest tropical rainforest which is home to many rare animals, birds, insects and reptiles. It is only undisturbed forest, about 9000 hectares in extent. This contains many rivers and streams. It also contains a large number of plants used for Ayurvedic medicine. In addition 60% percent of tees found here are endemic to sri Lanka.

In 1840 sinharaja became a crown property. It was made a National Wilderness area in 1988. Eventually, Sinharaja Was included in the world heritage list by ''UNESCO'' in 1989 as the first National heritage of Sri lanka.

Sinharaja provides a habitat for thousands of animals. plants provide them with food. there are herbivores , carnivores and mix feeders. It is a forest with a high degree of biodiversity. Every scrap of land is hatted with vegetation of some sort. Trees have slender trunks which break out in a cluster of branches near the top. Also they are enveloped wonderfully with variety of climbing plants and rope like thick creepers. The earth of the forest is very dark and silent.

Unfortunately this National heritage has faced a threat today, due to merciless collectors of wild life specimens. Some valuable plants and animal species are being smuggled under hand. But this is legally protected and no one can cut down the trees or destroy it in anyway. It is truly a national tree.

A Programme to Educate street children in Sri Lanka

''child is the father of man'' Once a great educationist said. Each and every child Who is born on this earth has a right for education just, we all talk about the chils's rights, yet we never poke deep in to the matter? Why do children lose their rights to educate, who are the children who are denied of this privilege? why do they become drop outs? is there any remedy to wipe out this situation? who is responssible for it? where do they go ? All these questions can be only rhetorically.

Number of factors prevailing in our society are partly contributed to increase the number of street children in this little island. It is very pathetic to see, crucial situations such as parental death , long term illnesses, deprivation of love and kindness, insecurity and frustration. These unhealthy situations are persuades them to leave their homes in search of better living or odd jobs. So automatically they too come under the category of homeless children. specially the children of broken home have no particular aim or ambition. Also the complicated situations in certain areas of the country have resulted greatly for the deprivation of education of the child. Migrating families to the city aimlessly. This situation goes from bad to worse. This increased the rate of child neglect, child abuse, school dropouts and run away children, among the most less privileged community.

So can we expect something worthwhile contribution from this type of children to the society Even then these innocent creatures must be educated in a school. they too are the owners of free education. If we try hard , this effort may be successful in to a cerain extent, with the tenderness of the teachers - the receivers may get inspired.

There may be obstinate children or 'tough nuts' among them. If they are encouraged to stay after school for an extra bit of learning perhaps it would be more appealing for them to break their monotony. Children from broken families are very delicate and flimsy, they must be handled with care as they are easily broken.

Establishing street schools is also an effective remedy for this sorrowful situation. Every bird likes to be in its own nest. If they are indifferent to seek the education, It is no wonder lessons should go to them to be served. these schools may be more appealing to them when sitting side by side with their peer group. This might be enhanced for them to obtain a but about the society. For them, it is also a certain study to get rid of evils and corruptions. If anyone can supply them with a bit of assistance to adjust their crooked lives how fortunate these street children are?

These innocent flowers must nit let to be down - trodden or withered untimely as they too are human beings who are gazing to take over the future of our little Mother Lanka.
